Vintage Japanese Ivory Netsuke - Travelling Man

Description: Vintage Japanese Netsuke of a travelling man. This is hand carved, made of ivory. circa early 20th century. It is signed and about two inches high. In very good condition, made certainly by a master craftsman. Signed on the base. Netsuke – tiny sculptures used to secure pouches to the kimono – have long been an obsession for collectors in both East and West. They depict a variety of figures, both domestic and exotic, from marketplace tradesmen to otherworldly beings to perfectly rendered animals. Please note that the ivory used in this piece is Elephant Ivory. The item was lawfully imported and is lawfullly being sold.
