Description: Lumberyard, by Henry Bayley Snell, is an oil on canvas mounted on board. The painting is signed at lower left: "Henry B. Snell". Henry Snell was born in England and likely first came to New Hope in 1898. He was a longtime instructor at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (now Moore College of Art and Design). Snell was the school's most influential instructor and taught many of the students that would join together to form the Philadelphia Ten.
