Country: France Date: 1870 Description: A fine and monumental bronze Gothic Revival inkwell, probably French, circa 1870. The architecturally inspired design with two wells housed within a rectangular coffer with double hinged lids decorated with Gothic strap work. The outer surface of the coffer with roundels with swirling tracery. The wells rest on a plinth with a open work balustrade over a base with 4 gargoyle feet. Condition: Very good.
