Jim Bauer Robot Lamp
|
Maker/Artist: Jim Bauer
Country: USA Date: 1980s-1990s Description: Jim Bauer (b. 1954) is a self-taught Northern California artist known for his robot-like sculptures made from kitchen items and hardware, often including - as in this piece - electric lights shining through colored lenses. A former teapot & kettle salesman and researcher at Kaiser Aluminum, Bauer fashions his metallic androids in an Airstream trailer that functions as his studio (many thanks to Bonnie Grossman of Berkeley, California's, Ames Gallery for biographical details). Among the materials utilized in the creation of this charming piece are aluminum teapots and colander, as well as dental prosthetics (and how many items on this website can make that claim?). Light spills out from the holes of the colander, from the glass eye lenses, and down through his nose. A true one-of-a-kind item! PRICE REDUCED FROM $1,800.00. Dimensions: 17.5"H 44.5cm H Materials: Aluminum, glass, dental prosthetics. Condition: Original vintage condition. Number of items: 1 Item ID: 11365 Price: $1,000 |
