1. What is Bond & Bowery?

Bond & Bowery is a Web-based worldwide marketplace for the highest quality antiques, fine furnishings and fine art. Dealers and Galleries from across the country and around the world have established on-line virtual showrooms so that interested buyers can browse and purchase any items they want directly from any location without leaving their home or office.

2. How does Bond & Bowery work?

Bond & Bowery is a Web-based portal where Dealers and Galleries of antiques, fine furnishings and fine art can lease virtual showrooms to display their goods.  Merchandise is  displayed in a variety of categories and typically includes photos and comprehensive descriptions. Numerous features on each Item Detail page allow potential buyers to make informed purchasing decisions, as well as to contact a Seller directly. Visitors to the site can view items at random, by category or by specific dealer showroom. If interested in a specific item a buyer can purchase the item directly from a dealer. New Dealers and Galleries are constantly joining the site and new inventory listings are posted to the site weekly.

3. Do I need to login to use Bond & Bowery?

No, you can browse Bond & Bowery without logging in. However, utilizing certain features of the site as well as to see prices for specific items, does require a login by providing an email address and password.

4. What is included in a Standard Membership?

Standard Membership gives a user access to the full functionality of the site including the following:

  • A rapid, powerful and comprehensive search engine function
  • Ability to view any item with full details (including price)
  • Ability to print or e-mail specific items
  • A personal folder, My portfolio, to store items of interest for future action.
5. How do I purchase items on Bond & Bowery?

Items can be purchased either directly from a Dealer of Gallery or through Bond & Bowery. To purchase an item a buyer simply has to contact an individual dealer by using the contact information displayed next to the item being purchased. Once contact is established between the buyer and seller the transaction can take place off-line between the two parties. Items can also be purchased by having Bond & Bowery handle the transaction thus avoiding the hassle and time of dealing with the logistics involved in making a purchase as well as maintaining buyeranonymity. By using the Bond & Bowery Option, a buyer can have Bond & Bowery perform all of the required steps from order to delivery in strict confidentiality.

6. Does Bond & Bowery take a commission?

That depends on how the transaction is carried out.

No, Bond & Bowery does not take any commissions on items purchased directly from a Dealer.

Yes, Bond & Bowery does add a service charge for items purchased through the Web site using the Bond & Bowery Option - a buyer’s premium of 20% (plus shipping where applicable) is added to the sales price.

7. Who handles shipping?

Shipping is typically arranged between the buyer and seller. Dealers will usually make shipping arrangements unless the buyer has a preferred shipper and wishes to utilize this resource. If an item is purchased through Bond & Bowery by using the Bond & Bowery Option, we will provide the buyer with a list of recommended shippers who have been vetted, are reputable and experienced in shipping high value items. If requested, under this option Bond & Bowery can also provide shipping at an additional cost.

8. How does my portfolio work?

The My Portfolio section is a personal folder and management system which allows you to:
  • Edit your personal information
  • Manage multiple items, clients and dealer relationships
  • Save your favorite items and modify them as required including:
    • Edit, comment on and revise pricing
    • Remove dealer logo and information
  • Email item to your client
  • Print item details
  • Save your favorite dealers and searches
9. How do I become a Bond & Bowery dealer?

If you are interested in becoming a dealer on the Bond & Bowery Web site, please fill out the Bond & Bowery Dealer Application. The application process involves submission of  specific information about your business including photos, if available. Upon receipt and evaluation of your application, you will be promptly notified by a Bond & Bowery representative as to your acceptance as a Dealer Member.
